It was a great pleasure for AS-ET trustees to meet up with friends, colleagues and supporters at the IAT Congress in Liverpool this year. Once again, we were able to circulate among our corporate sponsors and hand out certificates in recognition of their continued contribution to advancing education and promoting excellence in the care and welfare of animals used in science. AS-ET would also like to thank all those individual supporters, some of long standing, who donate on a yearly basis.
Since IAT Congress 2024, AS-ET have awarded around £20k in bursaries in support of students studying CPD courses, levels 3 to 6 and in sponsoring an upcoming annual meeting which will reach an even wider group of those involved in laboratory animal science. The AS-ET board remains committed to supporting all those in need of help in funding training, education and career advancement and are exploring new ways of how we can achieve these goals.
On the AS-ET stand this year we had auction items generously donated by supporters:
A crocheted cat bag handmade by Karen Roberts
Two glass candle holders handmade by Adele Kitching
A pottery mouse potpourri bowl handmade by Cathy Godfrey
An original scraperboard (Barn owl) by Wendy Steel
A UFAW Handbook donated by Ken Applebee
These items raised a total of £292.50 for AS-ET. We are also very grateful for all those who bought raffle tickets, again for some fabulous, donated prizes, the proceeds of which will come to AS-ET.
It was with great pleasure that AS-ET was once again able to host a drinks reception for all sponsors prior to the Gala Dinner; heartfelt thanks to the IAT for making this happen.
